The Maternity Annual Report started in 2012 from the Maternity Quality and Safety Programme (MQSP). Our Annual Report has been produced over the previous years as part of the Ministry of Health (MoH) requirements to report on activities implemented as part of the Maternity Quality and Safety Programme.

This report describes practice, projects and achievements which reflect the recommendations from the National Maternity Monitoring Group (NMMG) and the Perinatal and Maternal Mortality Review Committee (PMMRC). The activity described in the report also aligns with the New Zealand Maternity Standards.

Our report has broadened its scope from Maternity Quality and Safety to include a wider focus on all care provided for women and their whānau. We continue to strengthen our effort on actions that will improve the health of Hutt Valley women by identifying and acting on opportunities to achieve better outcomes that meet their needs.

Hutt Valley District Health Board remains committed to the needs of our community and strives to provide appropriate, accessible, quality clinical care to our women, babies and whānau.
